Sikhula Sonke was started in 2001 in response to the lack of pre-school education in the community of Harare (in Khayelitsha). The ministry has grown significantly since then and currently reaches out to approximately 20 educare centres and 900 children. The purpose of this ministry is to equip women in this community with Early Childhood Development (ECD) skills, empowering them to meet the desperate need for pre-school education in their community.
A committee of people from Claremont Methodist Church facilitates this ministry. Each member of this committee has a portfolio according to their giftings and abilities. You too can take part in this ministry by praying for or visiting the educare centres and by providing them with materials which they may need (e.g. crayons, glue etc).
